Few internet experiences are more frightening and paranoia-inducing than an accidental Facebook poke. I don’t even understand what the point of poking is in the first place. Some kind of digital version of pre-pubescent flirting? I guess if it works, more power to you. But it scares the shit out of me when I’m clicking away on my BlackBerry, looking on my friends list, and I accidentally slip and hit the poke button. What if it goes through? Nothing says creepy like getting a random thing called a “poke” from your long-lost 2nd grade classmate. I know one thing, If I get a Facebook poke from anyone, they’ll be kicked right off the friends list.
